SACRED VALLEY
On the second day as part of accomodation to high altitude we went to visit archaeological sites. We had also a tourist guide and I am very grateful for all the information she ad provided us.
The whole Valley has a special energy, you cannot notice it....
First stop was in Chinchero, where we have seen the terraces where the former inca church , but it was demolished after the conquest and from her rock have buit the catholic monastery. The place is also famous for their weavings and there is a “showroom” where you can see them....
Moray, our next stop was a special place for me. It’s beauty, energy and the view of Apu Veronica made this temple of PachaMama/agricultural laboratory one of my favourites. It’s unbelievable how they have brought soil from different parts of the country, and each terrace has its own microclimate - so they were able to test which potato/corn/... is the best for that part of the country from where the soil was...
Ollantaytambo is on the end of the Sacred Valley. From this town you can take the special train to MACHU PICHU.
It’s a temple and a fortress. It was built from the rock brought from the nearby mountain. Our engineers said even with their technology it’s impossible to move such big rocks - 50-80 tons each - ... but they have done it...
We have turned back from Ollantaytambo and went to visit Pisac. The tourist guide has told us it even bigger than Machu Pichu. We have made just a short visit there promising we will come back next time and spend a whole day there.
This was our last stop and accomodation has ended. I was ready to take the Q’ero initiations live, doing the pilgrimage to the Sacred Apus.
